A story to share….

A fan of mine Unah, who saw me perform a few years back at The Toronto Summer Street Festival and who has since stayed in touch told me a funny story today. She just came back from the Bahamas and she met a taxi driver who was playing my cd Ready in his cab.  He met a Canadian tourist on the beach who was playing my music, loved it so much that he wound up giving him his only copy! Now I don’t have a picture of him obviously, but I thought Uncle Bert was pretty rad and wouldn’t mind the caption. Dope shades. ebay?

On Thursday, I sent out my master for manufacturing, along with my artwork an all the paperwork that accompanies that type of thing. No more last minute tweaks and changes, additions to liner notes or colour changes as it is now final. Turn around time will be a few short weeks then they should be shipped out to me, but at this point, it can’t seem fast enough.

I’m doing all the hard work..all they gotta do is like the damned thing and write about it so I can get some love (love=money haha) so I can continue what I do. Write, sing and put my voice on records.

The record will most likely be for sale through my website before the official release date so people can pick up their advanced copies if they feel ever so inclined. The digital mp3 sales won’t be available till the official release though, but hard copies are sexier anyway. The art is a part of the record too

I realize I’m tooting my horn and such and all you really want to see is pictures of what I ate for breakfast like most bloggers do- but too bad ’cause this is super exciting and new.  Once the album’s done and I’m on the road, I’ll post gross dinner food/broken-down-by-the-side-of-the-road/no make-up candids. Until then, it’s all about the glamour shots.

Banjo? Check. Guitar? Check. Glockenspiel? Obviously! So I’m almost finished production on the new album.  Quite exciting. Andrea de Boer of blueVenus will be joining me and Adam Hall of vWave productions in the studio for a violin session tomorrow, then all the recording is done and the cd is off to be mixed! That’s right, it’s all very quite exciting.

I’ve been working my buns off these last few weeks in the studio the majority of the week, booking sessions & musicians, working on album artwork and such.  I was hoping things would calm down this week so I could sneak in a much needed yoga class but no such thing has happened. Oh well- I’m having fun regardless.  The cd release is being booked as week speak for early May and details will be up soon!  Check back in a bit lovers

I got my first rough bounces of the recordings we did two weekends ago. I’ve been listening to them all morning and love the crunchy drums! Way to go popsicle Pete!  I’m getting together with Scott Monday evening next week to have a sit down listening sesh so we can come up with some additional arrangements and finalize our recording schedule. There’s tons to do but it is all very exciting at this point.

Scott and Pete (of Provincial Parks) and I are currently recording drums, guitars & lead vocals for my upcoming EP Our Hands.  We are recording in Trenton with our friend Brent Bodrug of B-Group Music ( http://bgroupmusic.com/)

I’m writing this from the studio right now. It’s this great church from the 1920’s that Brent purchased this past summer and converted into a live room.  We’re getting great crisp drum tones and the space delivers a great natural reverb on my vocals.  We’ve been taking some video footage of us working (and goofing off a bit) that you can find up on the site.

The next step will be to get back to the city to finish off the vocals & add additional instruments. Here are some pics of the space.
