I’m trying to wind down and go to bed after an action-packed weekend. A quick summary: checked out a few NXNE shows (my friends Schomberg Fair & Emma-Lee, The Stills, The Most Serene Republic, Elliot Brood, Ghost Bees…just to name a few), shot a music video for Hands, and watched the new episode of True Blood .
We filmed footage of me in front of a green screen all day Saturday. The video will be a mix of live action and animation. The talented Randy Young will be animating the story based on my artwork. It will take some time to complete in post-production, so be patient friends.

I designed the cutest tee’s for ladies and they are in the process of being printed. They’ll be for sale in two weeks for a measley $20 each. A small price to pay for extreme cuteness and MEGA popularity with the boys.

Ten years ago yesterday, Napster revolutionized commercial music by – we’re all grownups; let’s call a spade a spade – democratizing piracy.
Without doubt, consumers in 1999 needed better access to music. They needed the opportunity to preview full tracks, to pick and choose songs from an album, and to have instant gratification through online downloads. And ten years later, consumers still have all those lovely perks. Napster ate it (thanks, Metallica!), but Kazaa sprang from its ashes. Then there was Limewire and its cadre. Due props to Apple for monetizing the system as it stood when the iTunes store came on the scene, but users are now ridiculously entitled about what kinds of readily available (a.k.a. easily stolen) files they are willing to pay for and their justifications for stealing media. Yet musicians, as much as they’ve tried to adapt, are still getting screwed by the Internet and their fans.

Blunt Magazine has always been big on indie artists — especially those based out of our home and native Toronto. So today I wanted to put you on to singer/songwriter Melissa Bathory. The track in the video above (”Pearl”) is from her latest 8 track EP, Hands. For the record, the title track is my pick for the hottest single off the EP, but the lazy melody and quirky groove of this track fit my friday mood far better and, thus, ended up featured in this blog.”
